+ Futuro

A referendum in Chile was to be voted between maintaining Pinochet’s constitution created in 1980 or one from scratch to be written by 155 democratically elected citizens with gender equality. Weeks before the vote fear was being strongly infected by some media and those who still wanted to maintain the old game. The piece came as a reaction to this situation and was thought as an action and motivational spot to be used prior election to promote vote for change.

A fragile representation of the existing constitution was made in Zickenplatz, a central location of Berlin, Kreuzberg. Made with coloured chalk, leaves, branches and stones invited pedestrians to literally go over it and disfigure its composition. Step by step and moment after moment, the “existing constitution” starts fading away allowing something underneath reveal itself. Slowly a + symbol plus the word FUTURE appear with strength and light giving hope to a challenging future ahead of the Chilean people.
