Cartografía Desviada
Cartografía desviada (Slanted cartography) reflects on the colonization of the Americas through formalising a frustrated european utopia; an imagined destination where the european culture would be both worshipped and refined. A cartography of how dreams and wishes turn in unexpected ways, where the conquered land shifts to a new form and gives birth to a son or relative never thought of. Fifty-eight printed tiles of the South American continent (taking the shape of a map of 1616) engage both the past and present, neither subjugated or sovereign, a voyage to the past in an effort to understand the present.
