Movimientos de Tierra

Through diverse formats, dimensions, mediums and time, the book Movimientos de Tierra, takes up the exploration of the whole Chilean territory searching for projects that cross the fields of art and nature. Initiated in the exhibition of the same name, which raised a series of territorial experiences conveniently recorded and transferred to the premises of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (2017) of Santiago de Chile, this book expands this research to a fifty year overview of these outdoor art practices.

Based on this artistic exercise in the natural environment, the present volume is conceived as an extended investigation that includes 35 works by different contemporary artists whose ecopolitical, social and spatial motivations make it possible to draw a unique cartography that reflects a territory of contrasts. This compilation is not anthological in nature, but rather offers possible intuitions and ways of thinking about our relations with the environment.
