Bauhaus 100 pamphlets
After the closure of the exhibition Bauhaus 100, el manifiesto se manifesta, an edition of 1000 sets of pamphlets were made. These sets of pamphlets were then further freely distributed allowing the pamphlets to keep on moving just like the original Bauhaus manifesto pamphlet written by Walter Gropius initiating the school.
The original manifesto was printed in a pamphlet that in 1919 had circulated in the press, by mail and passed from hand to hand. This same format gave body to the installation at the museum and these kit packs. A series of one hundred pamphlets organized around concepts / works / protagonists / practices presented as an open archive to the reader/receiver of the set. The first fifty pamphlets focus on the fourteen years of the school’s existence in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin (1919- 1933); the next fifty explore how, after its closure, Bauhaus ideas traveled and expanded, transformed, dialogued and adapted to the new realities they encountered.
The aim was to share a deep reflection on the complexity and transmutations of the Bauhaus ideology and hopefully be able to infect holders of these pamphlets with a modernising force that, although the hundred years passed, proves itself more contemporary and more relevant to current times.
